YES.

The Miniature Schnauzer is fun, loving, and playful. They get along great with kids and love them if they are raised with them. If any dog has grown up without interacting with children, they may be a little hesitant to warm up to them due to how loud and hyper they can be at times. I have five girls in my home from ages 2-15, so all of our puppies come well adapted to children of all ages. However, it is advised not to own a TeaCup if there are small children in the house. That is because TeaCups have very fragile legs and can easily get broken.

YES.

The Miniature Schnauzer is capable of being great with other dogs. It is best if they are brought up from a puppy with your already older dogs or raised together both as puppies. If you bring in an adult schnauzer into the home with another adult dog, it can get a little trickier. Because with every adult dog no matter the breed, they will already have a pecking order established in their mind. So you don't want two dominant, assertive dogs to be put together or they could fight. It is recommended to start socializing them as soon as they are fully vaccinated. That ensures they will be accustomed to making friends early on. You can begin socializing puppies by taking them to the dog parks ONLY after 16 weeks of age once they are fully vaccinated.

What About Cats?

YES.

Yes,  Schnauzers can be great with pet cats, if they have been raised with them since they were a puppy. If the Schnauzer is an adult and has never been around cats or kittens, then it could be a little tricky.

NOT A GOOD IDEA

Schnauzers are a terrier breed which means they will have a natural instinct to go after and hunt vermin. Pets like hamsters, gerbils,  guinea pigs, ferrets, birds, chinchillas, mice, rats, snakes, chickens, ducks, etc…. are at risk to own around a Schnauzer.  The Schnauzers natural drive to hunt down and chase these types of animals is strong, so they could easily kill these kinds of animals. If you introduce them when they area puppy it may be possible to have them coexist but I would always keep an eye on them.
